Laws relating to conservation of seagrass resources :

  • Marine and Coastal Resource Management Promotion Act, B.E. 2558

  • Fisheries Act, B.E. 2490

  • Exporting out of the Kingdom and Importing into the Kingdom of Goods Act, B.E. 2522,

  • Enhancement and Conservation of National Environmental Quality Act, B.E. 2535

  • National Park Act, B.E. 2504

  • Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act, B.E. 2535 (Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, 2006)

But these laws are not directly related to the conservation of seagrass resources like mangrove or coral conservation. Only the seagrass source in Trang Province has been declared a seagrass protection area according to the Trang Provincial Announcement prohibiting the use of certain fishing gear to fish in the seagrass area within the specified area, Different types of fishing.

1. Do not use Trawl Nets, Push Nests of all types and sizes which are used to attach to a fishing motor vessels.

2. Do not use beach seines and floating seines, which are attached to shovel tools for fishing.

3. Do not use Beam Trawls are prohibited from fishing in the designated area.

4. Prohibit fishing within 3,000 meters from the water's edge along the shore of Koh Sukorn, Palian District, Trang Province
