On Tuesday, July 18th, 2023, at the Department of Fisheries, the Thai Sustainable Fisheries Roundtable (TSFR) working group brought a representative from MarinTrust to meet with the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Fisheries, Mr. Bancha Sukkaew, for a meeting to discuss the progress of the Gulf of Thailand Trawl Fisheries Action Plan (FAP) and guidelines for developing fishery standards for Multi-Species Fishery in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries the meeting is organized in a hybrid format. Participating representatives included the President of the Thai Feed Mill Association and TSFR leading, Mr. Pornsil Patchrintanakul, the representatives from TSFR 8 associations, representatives from departments within the Department of Fisheries, the Agricultural Research Development Agency (ARDA), a research project consultant and representatives of project researchers, representatives from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources including fishmeal producer factory operators to benefit the implementation of the project by the fishery context of Thailand and assessment according to international standards.
Thailand is a country participating in the pilot program in an experimental assessment of Multi-Species Fishery along with the development of the standard guidelines collaborate with the International Standard agency MarinTrust to promote and develop the country's fisheries, Which are the upstream raw materials for the shrimp and seafood industry supply chain to be responsible and sustainable according to international standards. Currently, the project is in the process of implementation as outlined in the FAP, It's the world's first multi-species fisheries improvement program recognized by the International Sustainability Standards Agency and is also a model for project development for other countries currently.
